BookendsNestled within a row of picturesque cottages in the heart-meltingly lovely village of Flushing, 'Bookends' is your gateway to a holiday of delights. It sleeps up to 4 with WiFi and wood burner.
The treasures and riches of Cornwall
Getting away from it Cornwall-style doesn’t just mean a few days spent in a different location. Rather, it seems almost to be a different world, and ‘Bookends’ will surround you with all of the treasures and riches that this astonishing county has to offer. Set within a beautiful row of cottages in the gorgeous village of Flushing, the accommodation is thoroughly modern, impeccably flexible, and yet supremely tranquil, forming the perfect oasis of calm from which to ponder the latest day’s enchanting experiences.
Bookends captivates from the first second, greeting you with a powder-blue frontage that’s adorned with intriguing stone features. Pass through the stable door, and you’ll instantly come to the living room, a light and uncluttered space that hooks visitors with its wood burning stove and surrounding fireplace. But the room isn’t all about old-fashioned charm. Indeed, you can lie back and let the luxurious furniture take the strain. A flat screen TV along with DVD player are provided. Wi-Fi is also available.
The living room leads on to the kitchen and dining area. This wonderful space is bathed in natural light thanks to the strategically positioned roof-window. A considerable length of work surface runs either side of the substantial range-style cooker, and the latter lets you give your culinary skills full rein. Assuming, that is, that you’ll want to cook. The cottage is within easy reach of the exceptional Waterside restaurant, plus the Seven Stars and Royal Standard pubs, and the wide availability of locally-caught fresh sea produce means you’ll never be short of food – whether fully prepared, or ready to cook.
The kitchen’s many conveniences include a dishwasher, large fridge freezer, and washing machine, and there’s also a highly useful ground floor shower room. The ample accommodation lets you relax by the breakfast bar, or move to the separate dining area.
While you’re here, we’re sure you’ll want to be out and about as often as possible. But even on the occasions when you’re in, you can stay out, thanks to the courtyard garden. It’s an intimate and tranquil spot with ample seating.
Bookends’ family-friendly bedrooms
Follow the stairs up to the second floor, and you’ll find two amply-proportioned family-friendly bedrooms. The master bedroom instantly plunges you into a feeling of tranquility and relaxation, and its subtle colour scheme is set off beautifully by the carefully-arranged pieces of antique style furniture. The king size bed is the key to deep and uninterrupted sleep. The en-suite bathroom is extremely well planned, fitting in a WC, sink, and large bath, all the while retaining that crucial feeling of space.
The second bedroom is ideal for the younger members of the family. Its has twin single beds which can also be made up as a Super-King if required. Considerable wardrobe storage is provided, and through the window you can take in the splendours of the exquisite cottaged street outside.
Your truly memorable experience
Bookends, then, is immaculate. But the surrounding area will form the real substance of your holiday. Given that the wonders of Cornwall grow all around you, that should make for a truly memorable experience. The village of Flushing is itself a miniature paradise – little wonder that Dutch sailors thought so much of it, creating many of the lovely Queen Anne houses that give the place its distinctive charm. The great restaurant and pubs are joined by such local delights as the Kiln Quay Beach and Bowling Green – complete with pirate-themed play area. The nearby village of Mylor offers exciting water sports and exhilarating coastal walks, while Penryn has historic charm that has lasted through the ages.
Across the water and beyond
A quick ferry hop across the water lies Falmouth, with its cornucopia of eateries and other amusements – including a brace of Henrician castles, Pendennis and St Mawes. From Falmouth, it’s easy to branch out to the natural beauty of Trelissick, the cathedral city of Truro, and to the rest of this glorious county. Cornwall fills every nook and crevice with sparkling little gems. For a voyage of discovery, Bookends is truly the place to visit.

Bookends was perfect, homely and beautifully finished.
Hannah Brass, Manchester
The property looked cosy and was exactly what we were looking forward. The log fire was lovely. It was pretty much perfect. We had the most amazing first family holiday. Beautiful cottage, excellent location and we can’t wait to return.
