ClottageA pretty terraced cottage full of character, decorated to give a fresh, seaside feel, Clottage enjoys an unbeatable location just metres away from Flushing’s waterfront and benefits from its own allocated car parking space.
Clottage is a pretty, mid-terraced property boasting impeccable waterside views from the heart of Flushing village complete with allocated parking. From the outside, it doesn’t get more quintessentially Cornish – with its sky blue walls and rich blue front door, this property definitely has curb appeal. The second in a row of five terraced houses facing a pretty communal lawned area, Clottage is just yards from Flushing’s quayside where it also benefits from its own allocated car parking space.
This cottage’s name was inspired by delicious Cornish clotted cream and, just like the tasty treat, this holiday home is likely to put a big smile on your face. Its owners have taken a traditional terraced fisherman’s cottage and, with clever use of stylish furnishings and a coastal-inspired palette, succeeded in creating a delightful family seaside retreat with a fresh, fun feel.
Entering the property, guests are greeted with a small entrance hall, an ideal location to leave sandy shoes when returning from the beach. Waiting behind the glass panelled door is a fabulous open plan, living and dining room. White walls, light wood flooring and a beautiful tongue and groove feature wall, are a subtle modernisation of this space and create a welcoming and cosy atmosphere. With dual aspect windows flooding this room with light, it’ll be easy for guests to sit back and get comfortable on the large blue sofas.
The front window makes use of those fabulous waterfront views, and with a large window seat for guests to put their feet up, it’s an ideal spot to take a midday rest whilst watching the boats bob on the water. There is also a TV in this room, so guests can curl up on a quiet night in and watch a favourite TV show or movie.
At the rear of this room is the delightfully bright dining area. With a large table and six chairs, there’s room for all guests to gather round and enjoy some quality time together. The double doors that lead onto to the quaint courtyard garden, offer flexibility for those warm, Cornish, summer evenings should guests wish to dine alfresco. This large, open plan room maintains a cosy, cottage feel with its bright white walls and hints of blues. It’s a delightfully inviting space and has everything to offer for guests wanting a relaxing home from home.
At the back of the property is the compact but well-equipped kitchen. Fitted with light units and white and blue tiles, the decor flows beautifully. There is everything guests should need to cook up a delicious breakfast or meal for loved ones, should they not be tempted by the pubs and restaurant in the village. There is an electric cooker and hob, dishwasher and microwave and a washing machine and tumble dryer can also be found in the utility room, which is accessed by the courtyard.
The rear courtyard space of this pretty cottage is ideal for warm summer evenings, sharing an evening drink or some food on the table and chairs. The lovely, whitewashed walls enable this space to become a suntrap, and the surrounding greenery provide colour and texture.
Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and the family bathroom.
The master bedroom is positioned at the front of the property and boasts more of those incredible views from a large window. There is a quaint little window seat for guests to sit down and enjoy the views, possible with a good book or a warm cup of tea. This bedroom is a lovely size and comes complete with a king size bed. The crisp white bed linen, white walls and subtle hints of blue ensure a calming and relaxing night’s sleep is on offer. Storage comes in the form of a large chest of drawers and built in cupboard space, plenty of room for guests to hide away all their luggage and escape the ordinary life.
The cosy second bedroom offers twin single beds. Maintaining the nautical theme from throughout the property, but with warm yellow walls, this room is cosy and quaint. There is a large built-in cupboard for storage and the wicker armchair is a sweet little spot to enjoy a moment’s peace and quiet.
The third bedroom is ideal for those travelling with children. This fun bedroom has a wonderful nautical theme, and a wooden bunk bed is an ideal addition to creating a lovely, cabin feel. Children will love sitting on the top bunk and watching out the window at the boats passing.
The family bathroom is shared by the three bedrooms and is a really good size. Another large window floods this room with light, and the white tiled walls work well at reflecting it throughout the space. There is a bath and shower, so guests can choose how they wish to relax at the end of the day.
Flushing is the picture perfect Cornish postcard setting. With quaint streets lined with characterful fishing cottages, two friendly pubs and an excellent seafood restaurant, guests who are wanting a peaceful and relaxing break can certainly find it here. Toward the other side of Flushing is a well-equipped children’s play park, an excellent space to bring the little ones to burn off some steam. There is also a well-stocked local shop should guests need anything and wonderful views across the bay to Falmouth town. Just a stroll around the streets or down to the waterfront is a tranquil way to spend some quality time with loved ones.
A regular passenger ferry can take you across the water and over to the harbour town of Falmouth, where an array of boutique shops and restaurants await. Guests can explore several art galleries or take time to expand their knowledge of its history at the famous Maritime Museum. It’s easy to explore more of Cornwall from Falmouth, with its excellent transport links to Cornwall’s capital city, Truro via bus, train, ferry or car.
Clottage is a wonderfully, bright and inviting property, offering guests a truly memorable stay in a fabulous Cornish village.

It was a delightful place to stay and we would not hesitate to recommend both Clottage, and Flushing Holiday Cottages, to friends.
Great location with view of quay and river, plus dedicated parking on quay, the ferry to Falmouth together with the restaurant, 2 pubs and a shop all within 5 minutes walk meant we hardly used the car at all!
