ClottageA pretty terraced cottage full of character, decorated to give a fresh, seaside feel, Clottage enjoys an unbeatable location just metres away from Flushing’s waterfront and benefits from its own allocated car parking space.
This cottage’s name was inspired by delicious Cornish clotted cream and, just like the tasty treat, this holiday home is likely to put a big smile on your face. Its owners have taken a traditional terraced fisherman’s cottage and, with clever use of stylish furnishings and a coastal-inspired palette, succeeded in creating a delightful family seaside retreat with a fresh, fun feel.
The second in a row of five terraced houses facing a pretty lawned area, Clottage is just yards from Flushing’s quayside, where it also benefits from its own allocated car parking space. For those looking to make the most of this property’s waterside location, boat hire and a private mooring can be arranged; for others who prefer to stay on land, Clottage is just a short walk from Flushing village’s shop, restaurant and pubs.
With the ready-made entertainment of the comings and goings on the water to enjoy, this cottage is a popular choice for families with young children and is also one of our dog-friendly properties.
Step through Clottage’s powder blue front door and you are immediately greeted by a small entrance hall, the ideal place to leave sandy shoes. A glass-panelled door then leads into a delightful open-plan space, the heart of this lovely house. Its dual aspect windows, light wooden floor and white painted walls with tongue and groove panelling detail give this room a light, airy, New England feel.
The boats on the water can be watched for hours on end from the comfy seating area arranged at the front of this spacious room, furnished with sofa, armchairs and even a window seat. Alternative entertainment is also provided by the TV, DVD and stereo. WiFi is also available should you want to keep in touch with friends during your stay.
Towards the back of this room, a charming raised dining area houses a wooden table with comfortable seating for six people and boasts French doors which open out to the courtyard at the rear of the house. This pretty space with whitewashed stone wall has been equipped with a wooden table and four chairs and offers a perfect alternative eating area or a quiet spot from which to enjoy a glass or two at the end of a fun-filled day.
The kitchen is a compact yet well-crafted space which has been simply decorated with light units and white and blue tiles. It is equipped to a very good standard with high quality appliances. A washing machine and tumble dryer have also been provided here and are located in the utility room which is accessed by the courtyard; another useful space for active families in which wet beach gear can be stored.
All three bedrooms at Clottage are on the upper floor of the house. The master bedroom, in keeping with the rest of the house, is furnished in a seaside theme using whites and blues and boasts a comfy, wood-framed king size bed and spectacular river views across to Falmouth Bay from its picture window with seat.
The pretty second bedroom offers twin single beds and a built-in wardrobe for clothes storage.
A real treat for children, the third bedroom follows a fun nautical theme and the bunk beds form the perfect “crow’s nest” from which to spot the fishing boats and keep an eye out for the passenger ferry as it makes its way across Penryn river to and from Falmouth. Luxury bedding is provided in all bedrooms and a travel cot and high chair are available for young children.
The family bathroom is also upstairs. Tiled in white with pretty coloured detailing and furnished with a white suite of W.C, bath and separate shower, this room feels light and airy and is of a good size.
Clottage is a much loved house, with a sunny, friendly feel. With its convenient location and enthralling views, this is a perfect choice for a seaside family holiday with a difference.

The Moffat Family
It was a delightful place to stay and we would not hesitate to recommend both Clottage, and Flushing Holiday Cottages, to friends.
Great location with view of quay and river, plus dedicated parking on quay, the ferry to Falmouth together with the restaurant, 2 pubs and a shop all within 5 minutes walk meant we hardly used the car at all!
