Port House

Port House is a stylish property located in the historic Bar Terrace in Falmouth town centre, along with a fine array of stucco houses that sit high above the road and overlook the docks. Oozing with original features and bags of character, this tremendous four-bed property sleeps up to eight guests in style and luxury and boasts elegant charm and bags of space. Whether its a large get away with loved ones or an escape with friends, there is so much to see and do surrounding this property.

Set at the top of a gradually sloped pathway along the side of a tiered front garden is the entrance to Port House – an impressive looking property with two-storey high bay windows.

Having entered the property, guests are welcomed by a wonderfully large hallway with a wooden floor that leads on to the first of the two sitting rooms. The high ceilings are home to the original features of the building so guests are instantly introduced to the grandeur of this property. The first of the two sitting rooms is a large and impressive space. Complete with the large bay window and open fire, this room has a light, bright yet cosy feel. There are two large sofas so plenty of room for everyone to get together and play games in front of the roaring fire or settle down together to watch a movie on the TV. The furniture within this room elegant and classic, giving the room character and welcoming for guests.

The second sitting room can be found just behind, a short walk down the impressive hallway. This room has the perfect set up for guests holidaying with children with a large wall mounted TV, Playstation and Apple Digital Media Player. be sure to get a few moments peace while they’re occupied by all the gadgets. Or perhaps take a break and catch up on the latest sport with fellow guests and all relax on the spacious seating. There is also a large window in this room with beautiful wooden shutters, a really nice feature of the original property.

At the very rear of Port House are the large dining room and modern kitchen. Entering first into the dining room, a light and bright space full of character and interest. The dining table sits all eight guests comfortably and has elegant down lighting in order to create an atmosphere on cosy nights in together. The exposed stone walls within this room are charming and a polite nod to the original boundaries of this property. The outside space can also be accessed from this room.

Continuing through the dining room is the very stylish and contemporary kitchen area. Rustle up a fabulous meal for everyone in this beautiful space on the large range oven and feel cosy from top to toe with the underfloor heating. There is also a dishwasher, large fridge and separate freezer and an amazing wine cooler! There is also a laundry cupboard housing a washing machine and tumble drier.

Outside there is a wonderful covered seating area with two rattan sofas and a table. It’s a space to truly escape and soak in long summer evenings with a glass of wine. There is also a convenient outside toilet. A few steps up from here leads to the rear garden with deck chairs and paved area, which in turn leads up to the private parking area.

There are four bedrooms in this property, each within close proximity to a washroom. At the front of the house, guests can relax in the king size wrought iron bed. This room has original hand stripped floors, the second of the large bay windows and a large wardrobe. The room is welcoming and offers an excellent amount of space to get a thoroughly good nights sleep. Looking out through the bay windows and follow the horizon line along Falmouth coast and Pendennis Point.

The family bathroom has a wonderful claw foot bath, separate shower, WC and washbasin. The pale blue tunes are subtle nod to the location of the property.

The second bedroom has a super king zip link bed which can be made into two singles if required and has a slightly more nautical theme. There is plenty of storage within this room with cupboard space and a free-standing wardrobe. A separate toilet can be found next door to this room.

The third bedroom is positioned in the middle of the property and has a double bed, a small wardrobe and chest of drawers. The white walls within this room make the space tranquil and refreshing.

At the rear of the property is the fourth bedroom which has a double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. This room benefits from a wonderful en-suite bathroom complete with walk-in shower and large bath. Access to this room is through a large glass sliding door, in keeping with the modern touches throughout this property.

Port House is a fabulous property that offers so much to guests. Set within easy walking distance of Falmouth Town, where there are an abundance of restaurants, galleries and local shops. Even closer to this property is the lively Events Square. The setting for the famous Oyster Festival. Guests can also enjoy a wonderful meal at the equally infamous Rick Stein’s seafood restaurant. Falmouth is a wonderful Cornish town to explore, with ferry links to St Mawes, Flushing and The Helford River.

With a touch of grandeur and a ton of history, this wonderful period property will be sure to delight large groups – one well behaved dog is also welcome!
