Secret Harbour

A surprisingly spacious newly renovated terraced fisherman's cottage in the heart of Flushing village with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a pretty courtyard garden to sleep up to 6 guests in comfort .

One of Flushing’s hidden gems, Secret Harbour is situated in a row of pretty pastel coloured houses in this charming quintessentially Cornish village.

Impressively spacious and beautifully presented, this recently  refurbished chic and  stylish seaside  retreat offers luxury accommodation for up to 6 guests and one well behaved dog in 3 bedrooms over 3 floors, and has a beautiful enclosed courtyard garden with a delightful fish pond – providing a truly relaxing peaceful haven all year round!

This quaint cottage is the perfect retreat for couples, families, or small groups of friends who like a bit of character. Both the property and the surrounding location are full of personality, making Secret Harbour a must-visit if you are as interested in your immediate environment as you are the sights, sounds, and smells of Cornwall.

Secret Harbour has been decorated and furnished to a high quality, combining all the necessary modern conveniences with proud references to the building’s 1850’s heritage. You’ll find the interior to be cosy and subtle, with generous nautical references including maps, ornaments, and paintings, creating a cosy, relaxing and calm atmosphere for your memorable holiday by the sea!!

A porch offers plenty of space for coats and boots and the entrance hall leads to a large lounge and dining room complete with TV, DVD player, and an inviting wood burner effect gas fire. Furnished with a Stresless recliner chair, two comfortable sofas and a modern knitted pouffee, this is a great place to unwind in the evenings. As the temperature lowers, turn up the fire and catch up on some television, chat about the day, or unwind with a good book. Towards the front of this room by the window there is a dining table with seating for up to six guests – equally flexible as a place to retreat to when you want a little tranquillity to get your thoughts in order and savour the experiences of the day.

WiFi is provided for those who want to catch up on emails, share photos of their day’s experiences with family and friends and plan future events and a Boombox CD/Radio is available for those who enjoy listening to music and the local news and what’s on around the ‘Duchy’.

To the rear of the house you will find the light-filled kitchen complete with a separate dining area with a farmhouse table and chairs for 6 guests. Patio doors from the kitchen diner lead out to a beautiful coastal themed courtyard garden complete with small fish pond and rock garden. The patio area provides a great place for alfresco dining in the sunshine, with the planted area brightening the view and keeping the place feeling fresh. The outside utility room has a washing machine and provides additional storage space.

Back inside the kitchen is well equipped for self-catering and features all the appliances you need for the days when you haven’t been tempted out to sample the many flavours and tastes that Cornwall has to offer. An electric cooker with gas hob, microwave, and fridge make it easy to whip up tasty meals from fresh local ingredients and a dishwasher keeps everything clean and fresh. Under the stairs there is a small cupboard and a second fridge/freezer perfect for storing ice cold beers and drinks.

On the first floor are 2 bedrooms and a newly refitted bathroom with a huge walk-in shower and luxury digital remote controlled shower. Both bedrooms are simply decorated to provide a calm quiet space where you can get some much-needed rest after a day of exploring. Bedroom one has a large double bed, a decorative open fireplace and views over the garden, while bedroom two features twin single beds, a decorative open fireplace, and windows overlooking the charming village street below. Both of these rooms have ample clothes storage space.

A further staircase takes you to the top floor which features a spacious master bedroom suite with king size bed and views over the garden and a newly fitted en-suite shower room with digital remote controlled shower. The stylish nautical theme continues throughout with traditional dark wooden furniture, pastel coloured tones and stylish artwork and accessories.

Secret Harbour is located in the picturesque town of Flushing, a beautiful and secluded settlement just across the river from Falmouth. With its own little beach, a restaurant, two pubs, village shops and access to coastal footpaths, Flushing has everything you need for a low-profile getaway to escape from the hectic hustle and bustle of daily life. There’s a regular ferry across the river to Falmouth and back, so taking a day trip to the rest of Cornwall is a piece of cake – or should we say cream tea?

Over in Falmouth you’ll find plenty of shops and restaurants to keep you occupied, as well as the world-famous National Maritime Museum. Further afield you can find stunning gardens including Glendurgan, Trebah, Heligan and Trelissick. The city of Truro, the Cornish capital, is less than 20 minutes ride away on the train, boasting a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and an impressive cathedral.

We have recently returned from Secret Harbour and wanted to say what a lovely property it was.
We really enjoyed our stay and the location is ideal.  We managed to get a parking space most days but as we were taking our dog to Kiln Quay, we sometimes parked near there – it was no problem.  The ferry was a wonderful addition to a lovely stay.

Thank you for an excellent property as some which are dog friendly aren’t always so clean.  This one was spotless!
