The PointAn impressive four-bedroomed house with excellent facilities and beach access, nestled on the headland at Flushing boasting fabulous views across the bay and out to St Anthony’s lighthouse.
The Point was built in 1927 by well-known architect Cecil Burns, following his convalescence in Falmouth after the First World War. The standout feature of this fabulous property is, of course, its spectacular position, perched high on the headland at Flushing, facing south towards Falmouth bay and St Anthony’s lighthouse.
As you might expect from a house of such heritage, the spacious rooms at The Point have all been designed to make best use of the mesmerising sea views on offer here and the lounge is no exception. Flooded with light, this is a bright, inviting space classically decorated in white and cream with a polished wooden floor. Two sofas, sit next to a cosy wood-burning stove with blue and white patterned tile surround.
The owners have provided Freeview TV and complimentary Wi-Fi access for use during your stay here. A bay window dressed with pretty curtains reveals double doors which open out on to a delightful paved patio equipped with large wooden table and eight chairs; the perfect spot for lunch with a view.
The Point benefits from a separate dining room, ideal for more formal mealtimes. Circular in shape, this lovely room boasts a large bay window which floods it with light and frames the ever-changing view of boats making their way across the water to and from Falmouth harbour.
Spacious enough to cater very well for the eight guests which this house can accommodate, the kitchen at The Point is modern, well equipped and tastefully decorated with a blue and white colour scheme. Fixtures include a breakfast bar, a double fan-assisted oven, a fridge/freezer and a dishwasher.
A side door leads out from the kitchen into the pretty garden which has been cleverly designed to provide a number of different areas to enjoy. An alternative to the large patio which sits to the side of the house – a magical decked area, also with table and chairs – has been created to provide the perfect setting for early evening drinks as the sun sets over the bay.
The terraced garden is mainly laid to lawn and has a number of pretty flower beds. Perhaps the ultimate outdoor treat here is the flight of steps descending from the very bottom of the garden across the rocks to an area of secluded beach.
This generous house can comfortably sleep eight people in its four bedrooms, one of which is located on the ground floor. This impressive master suite has a truly luxurious feel. In addition to its en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower, this bedroom benefits from a superking-sized bed and has double doors which open out onto a terrace with far-reaching water views.
The three further bedrooms are located upstairs and have all been decorated in the same light colour scheme to match the rest of the house, with colourful touches provided by soft furnishings in tasteful, striped fabrics. Two of the upstairs bedrooms, one of which has dual-aspect windows, are doubles and the third room on this floor is a pretty twin. All benefit from far-reaching water views.
Also on the upper floor is this property’s family bathroom with W.C. and bath with shower over. The house benefits from an additional separate W.C. Quality bed linen and towels are provided.
Offering the winning combination of a fabulous location and spacious, well-designed accommodation that is also dog-friendly, The Point will make any holiday one to be remembered for years to come.

We had a wonderful holiday! It was fantastic to arrive in Falmouth and to see The Point across the water. Again later in the week we caught the ferry back from Falmouth and it was great to photograph the house from the water. Wonderful walks to Mylor yacht club and great eating places locally. Would return to the house/area. Great access to the beach – many hours were spent going through the rock pools and walking with our dog.
