Dark Pony isn’t just one of the best coffee shops in Falmouth, it’s one of the best in the country. Sitting on The Moor, this micro-roastery was named among the UK’s top coffee shops in 2026 and it’s the only café in Cornwall or Devon to make the list. The menu rotates constantly, with three espressos and three filter coffees on at any one time, all chosen for what’s performing best rather than ticking origin boxes. The team will happily guide you through the options until you find exactly what you’re after, and their signature iced coffee is well worth trying if you’re visiting in the warmer months. Pair your cup with something from their selection of freshly baked cakes and pastries and you’ve got yourself the ideal start to a Falmouth morning. They use sustainable packaging, direct-trade sourcing, and they genuinely want specialty coffee to feel welcoming rather than exclusive. Dogs are very welcome too. You might even get to meet their resident dog Roo.
If you’ve strolled along Killigrew Street and spotted the hot pink shopfront, you already know about Espressini, and if you haven’t been inside yet, that needs to change. This is one of Falmouth’s most loved independent coffee houses. The coffee is sourced with real care and the flat whites are exceptional. The eggs benedict are absolutely delightful and if you’re lucky enough to catch one of their cocktail nights, the cocktails are the stuff of local legend. They are also dog-friendly too.
Also on Killigrew Street, Olfactory is rooted in something deeper than great coffee, though the coffee is exceptional. Founded in 2013 by two people who got genuinely frustrated with what was being served during their time studying in Cornwall, Olfactory set out to do things properly from the start. The beans are roasted in Penryn, the sourcing is ethical and transparent with direct producer relationships spanning continents and the pour-over options rotate to reflect what’s best in the bag right now. Their flagship Knockout Espresso is a seasonal blend that keeps people coming back and it’s hard to leave in a hurry. It’s a place that takes the craft seriously without ever making you feel like you should do the same. If you need some quiet time away from the bustle or simply a really good coffee, this is the place. You can work from here too. It’s a great spot to set up for a few hours. If you’re planning to bring a dog, it’s worth giving them a quick call ahead of your visit.
Beacon Coffee sits at the base of the Old High Street and has quietly built one of the strongest reputations in Cornwall’s speciality coffee scene. Owned and run by Sam and Alex, both with serious experience in the industry and passion for what they do. They source their beans from some of the finest roasters across the UK and Europe. You can expect espresso, filter, and decaf alongside a range of alternative milks, and the home-baked cakes and pastries are well worth saving room for. The atmosphere is calm and unhurried, and the staff take genuine care to talk you through what is on and help you find exactly what you are after.
