Shell Cottage is a splendidly characterful cottage, packing space, bags of charm and subtle modern retouches. This property is positioned directly behind the harbour edge and shares a wonderful front green with the neighbouring cottages. Flushing is the quintessential Cornish village, with excellent local amenities such as pubs, a restaurant and local store and easy transport access to the neighbouring town of Falmouth and St Mawes.

The exterior of this property is somewhat charming and inviting. With the five other cottages lined up in their pretty pastel tones, guests will find it hard to forget the wonderful coastal location of Shell Cottage. Stepping through the blue front door, guests are welcomed by a perfectly sized porch area, ideal for storing any sandy, wet beach clothes and drying off dogs.

The main living area is an inviting room with high ceilings and a sense of Victorian opulence. The main feature of this space is the wonderful open fire and the tall alcoves surrounding it. This room comes complete with two large sofas and is an inviting space for guests to come together and spend some time relaxing. The flat screen TV means guests can get cosy in front of their favourite movie or TV show as the fire crackles by their feet. The large window frames the garden view and allows natural light to flood this room during the day.

Located at the rear of the property is the kitchen and dining room. This modern adaption is an inviting space and the contemporary shaker style kitchen units are in keeping with the feel of the house. Pale pastel blues are teamed with warm, rich woods and the white walls are a stunning backdrop. This country style kitchen comes with bags of character, and as there are no wall mounted cabinets, this space feels really big and bright. There is a large fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, electric oven and washing machine so guests have all they need to truly enjoy their stay. The dining area has plenty of space for everyone to gather and share a delicious meal, and being set within the kitchen, it is a really social space.

However, if the summer sun is proving too tempting, guests can always dine alfresco in the pretty rear garden. Accessed via steps from the kitchen, a large table and chairs provides guests the opportunity to sample some of the fresh local produce outdoors and make the most of the long summer evenings.

Upstairs are the three bedrooms and family bathroom. The master bedroom is home to a wonderful king size bed that promises a relaxing night sleep and has perfect views from the window overlooking the water. This room is decorated in crisp whites and neutrals with a fun hint of lime. Overall the feel is welcoming and restful and the large chest of drawers and built in cupboard, means there is plenty of room for storage of guests belongings.

Bedroom two features twin single beds and is light and bright. The large window is home to views overlooking the rear garden so a peaceful and restful nights sleep are definitely on the cards. There is also another chest of drawers in this room for storage. the third bedroom is accessed via this room and is ideal for guests travelling with young children. With it’s bright and colourful decor, this room is fun and intriguing. The wood cladded ceiling, walls and floor create an element of a ‘hidden den’

The family bathroom is an excellent size and decorated in clean neutral tiles. This room features a relaxing bath where guests can enjoy taking some time out and enjoying a hot soak at the end of the day. There is an overhead shower available too sold guests prefer. Throughout the upstairs of this property, the original Victorian doors add real character and are teamed perfectly with the modern finishes of the room.

Flushing is the picture perfect Cornish postcard setting. With quaint streets lined with characterful fishing cottages, two friendly pubs and an excellent seafood restaurant, guests who are wanting a peaceful and relaxing break can certainly find it here. Toward the other side of Flushing is a well-equipped children’s play park, an excellent space to bring the little ones to burn off some steam. There is also a well-stocked local shop should guests need anything and wonderful views across the bay to Falmouth town. Just a stroll around the streets or down to the waterfront is a tranquil way to spend some quality time with loved ones and the local beach is an ideal for spot for any guests travelling with four legged friends who may also need to burn off some steam.

A regular passenger ferry can take you across the water and over to the harbour town of Falmouth, where an array of boutique shops and restaurants await. Guests can explore several art galleries or take time to expand their knowledge of its history at the famous Maritime Museum. It’s easy to explore more of Cornwall from Falmouth, with its excellent transport links to Cornwall’s capital city, Truro via bus, train, ferry or car.

Shell Cottage is an excellent property for any party of guests to get away and experience Cornwall in quaint, quiet village with the added convenience of a reserved parking space on the quayside opposite the house. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
