Description

Welcome to Curlews!

A charming terraced house overlooking the creek tucked away on the tranquil upper reaches of Restronguet Creek, the charming village of Devoran offers a peaceful base for those seeking the perfect blend of creekside calm and countryside adventure.

Enter the house through a delightful front garden and into the porch where you will find three reception rooms each filled with comfortable sofas and many original features including an open fireplace. At the rear of the house is an open-plan kitchen dining space.  The kitchen area is raised (one step) and includes an AGA, dishwasher, fridge and freezer and island.  The dining table is large enough to gather friends and family round and taste some local produce.

Bi-fold doors open onto a pretty courtyard with a table and chairs perfect for a morning coffee, from here steps lead up to the terraced garden with lawn.

Upstairs the house has 3 bedrooms, 2 with king size beds and one with a double.

The views from the front bedrooms across the creek are maximised here, with binoculars provided for bird watching.

Curlews has two bathrooms, a ground floor shower room and a family bathroom with a beautiful roll top bath and large shower.

Whether you’re a keen sailor, walker, cyclist, or someone simply in search of a slower pace, Devoran has something to offer. Enjoy easy access to the renowned Carrick Roads network of rivers – widely considered to be some of the UK’s best day-sailing waters – or explore the beautiful local landscape along the Bissoe Trail, an 11-mile coast-to-coast cycle and walking path that starts right in the village and stretches to Portreath on the rugged north coast.

Free parking is available on the street outside of the house and one well behaved dog is welcome.

Devoran itself is full of character, with a welcoming pub (The Old Quay Inn), village hall, and scenic creekside walks. The village is also steeped in heritage, once serving as an important port for Cornwall’s mining industry.

Nearby villages such as Carnon Downs and Perranwell Station provide useful amenities including local shops, a butcher, post offices, and cosy pubs like The Royal Oak. Perranwell Station even offers a convenient train service to Truro and Falmouth, making it easy to explore more of Cornwall’s culture, coastline, and culinary scene.

For sailing lovers, facilities at Restronguet, Mylor, Flushing, and Falmouth are all within easy reach, with marinas, sailing clubs, and waterfront eateries waiting to be discovered.

Whether you’re visiting for a weekend escape or a longer holiday, Devoran is a true hidden gem – a place where nature, history, and Cornish charm come together.

Testimonials

We had a lovely stay at Curlews. Really comfortable house with great creek views and a peaceful feel. Perfect spot if you want to slow down and enjoy the area.

The Hogan Family

Such a great place to stay. Full of character, loads of space, and beautiful views over the creek. Loved sitting in the garden and spotting birds from the bedroom window.

Mr and Mrs Jameson

Curlews is a real hidden gem. The house itself is warm, comfortable and very welcoming. Coffee in the courtyard in the morning was a highlight. The kitchen and dining area were ideal for eating together, and everything felt cosy and well thought out. Devoran is a gorgeous little village. Brilliant location for walks, cycling and sailing.

Jayne Whitehouse & Family

Really enjoyed our time here. Comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen and such a quiet, scenic setting. Would definitely stay again.
